Frequency Domain Electromagnetic (FDEM) for Environmental Management

The recipient of the Frequency Domain Electromagnetic (FDEM) Certificate for Environmental Management must attend to the two weeks GEMS bootcamp and demonstrate the ability to apply FDEM techniques to environmental management projects. This includes:

  • Understanding the principles and theories behind FDEM in geophysics.

  • Conducting field data collection using FDEM equipment for environmental site assessment.

  • Analyzing and interpreting FDEM data to characterize subsurface conditions in soil and groundwater remediation projects.

  • Developing geophysical models based on FDEM results to inform decision-making in environmental management.

  • Reporting FDEM findings effectively, with recommendations for site remediation or monitoring

Criteria

  • Complete two weeks of coursework covering FDEM principles, field data collection, and data interpretation.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using FDEM equipment and interpreting the results in the context of environmental management.

  • Successfully complete a final project where they analyze real-world environmental data and propose remediation or monitoring strategies based on FDEM findings.

  • Hold a foundational understanding of environmental site assessment and be able to apply FDEM in environmental management scenarios.
